In preparation for the 2005 G8 Summit in Edinburgh, a media convergence was hosted by Indymedia London at The Institute for Autonomy occupied social center. About 100 media makers attended the two-day event, which helped plan strategies and tactics for media production at the anti-G8 mobilizations set for the early summer.

This was one of the most successful events organized by Indymedia London during the time I've been around. People came from all over Europe to attend, and a lot of practical organizing work was done during the weekend. The decisions made at this convergence provided a solid working basis for the organizing of the three media centers in Scotland.
There was a strong showing by IMC-UK collectives from all over the country, including some people who made the trip all the way from Scotland. Cooking was done by the crew from the Institute for Autonomy, and there was a bash on Saturday night at RampART occupied social centre.
During the conference, one of the hackers in attendance whipped up the first version of the mail2mir code, which allows people to submit audio, photos, videos and text to the Indymedia newswire through their mobile phone.
