imc-uk-associates mailing list started

The first posting on imc-uk-associates is an introductory message.

The list is <a href="http://archives.lists.indymedia.org/imc-uk-associates/">archived</a> up to July 2003, but it is likely that it has continued beyond that date. At the time of writing (2007), the list is not live anymore. The introductory message explains what it was set up for.

Hello all

As you will have seen you are now on an IMC 'associate' list - this is the
one we promised to set up about 6 months back but never quite got
sorted! Sorry about that, better late than never...

If i remember rightly this list was to help us all communicate in the uk
'alternative' arena... we talked a bit about regionalising IMC uk more so
this would be the place to start that discussion off and any others...

If you don't want to be on the list please go to http://lists.indymedia.org -
go down to the UK associate list and unsubscribe yourself.

Also if you know of anyone else who wants to join the list - i have only
sent out to those e-mails we collected on the day - get them to go to the
same list and subscribe themselves (saying where they are from so i
can tell the difference between them and spam mail)

At the moment the list is a closed one ie. new people have to go though
me to subscribe - but if everyone wants it totally open i don't mind, just
say, at the moment i will just be stopping spam mailers from around
the world - as these lists seem to attract them!

The archive of this list os publicly viewable so take this into account
when you send messages - again this can be made private if you all
want.

Just a quick update as to what has been going on in the London group
- we opened up and invited new people in, setting up sub-groups on
Video, doing Print, and writing Features, and a Tech group... these
groups are all going fine - if you want to find out more about these
groups you can join their lists or send me a e-mail.

Also there is a European IMC meeting coming up in brussels in 3
weeks - they can only put up a few people so this will be a small
meeting - but there has been talk of a mass euro alt-media meeting at
the end of the year, as many IMC's are made up of many groups and
there is a desire to co-ordinate more. More info on this can be found at
the IMC-europe list.
