Stirling field IMC during G8 2005, 02. to 09. July, set up by people from imc bristol, psand.net and bristol wireless and used by many others. Tent with pp working on laptops.
The IMC in Edinburgh was open for about two weeks during the G8 protests 2005. ca 25 public access terminals plus boxes for audio, video and pictures as well as laptop ports. Ca 1000 pp used it.
On MayDay 2000, Imc Uk had its first public appearance. Below you see the public access tent at the Guerilla Gardening protest in Parliament Square, and the first manually maintained Imc Uk website (without open publishing).
“Carnival against Capitalism” in financial centers all over the world. Also called a "global street party". 10.000 partied in City of London. Police and corporate media didn't like it -> Criminalisation of Reclaim the Streets. Reports from all locations were collected on one website. Beginnings of Indymedia.

Backspace opened in spring 1996 and closed late December 1999. The media center for J18th in London was set up in Backspace. After J18th, a newly formed "Reclaim the Streets media group" met in Backspace a few times, then transformed into the first imc uk collective. The people who ran Backspace continue to support indymedia uk with all sorts of tech facilities.
